Vidzu Media is thrilled to announce the debut of their new interactive experience, Block of Wood, found at theblockofwood.com.
The Block of Wood process utilizes exciting new technology and a branching narrative format to create innovative, interactive content for a myriad of formats. To visualize the process of creating a piece of content from idea to completion, the Vidzu Media team invented a sample client, Block of Wood, to create original content around. Viewers of the interactive experience can choose different elements to be included in the finished Block of Wood content and are then served up a fully-produced 30-second project based on their choices. With many possible outcomes, viewers are rewarded through multiple viewings of the experience.
Earning Your Audience’s Attention
Interactive video has been an exciting recent advancement for marketers because it holds viewers’ attention much more effectively than traditional video, making them active participants rather than passive viewers. Vidzu Media’s stated mission is to collaborate and invent. Venturing into the interactive arena is a natural next step for content creation and viewing experience.
“When creativity is no longer limited by linear storytelling, the paths of possibility truly are endless. We see this space as an exciting arena, ripe for growth,” says Vidzu Media’s Creative Director, Kyle Dufendach. Vidzu Media’s tagline “Explore What’s Possible” speaks to the possibilities inherent in this new format. As Executive Vice President of Vidzu Media, John Launius goes one step further when he says, “…if we don’t explore what’s possible in all areas of our lives, we will surely inherit what’s probable. What’s probable is more of the same and that can mean failure at many levels.”
Similarly to a Choose Your Own Adventure book or the recent Netflix phenomenon Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Vidzu Media makes it possible for clients to create cutting-edge interactive media for a wide variety of purposes, such as marketing, education or awareness. A recent New Yorker article asks whether interactive films will be this century’s defining art form. Vidzu Media believes that they will be, and is excited and proud to stand at the forefront of that movement.
